THE PLOT THICKENS | This is hard to talk about…

October 19, 2018October 19, 2018 Blushy Ginger

This is a hard post to write.

The topics I’ve been reading about this week, and the terms I’ve been learning, paint a picture of where this post is going. Eating disorders. Orthorexia. Subjective binge eating. Social anxiety. Comorbidity.  Continue reading THE PLOT THICKENS | This is hard to talk about…

Dear daughter, I want to teach you to love your body as it is, and as it changes. I want to teach you that you don't need to chase some toxic idea of the Perfect Body. I want to teach you how to eat without anxiety, regret, and guilt. I want to teach you to exercise because it's good for you, not just because it burns calories. I want to teach you that your body will change as it becomes a living tapestry of your adventures and experiences -- and that change is still beautiful. - But how do I teach these lessons if I have never figured them out myself? - In 2019, I am going to start learning the lessons on body image and anxiety-free food choices that I hope to teach my daughter -- and my son, because boys need help in this area, too.
New blog post on my last few sessions of #CBT for #socialanxiety! . "The CBT program is over, and all signs point to “I survived.” The Exposure half of the program was very challenging, but it led to so many light-bulbs moments for me that it was totally worth it. . Exposure practices included a dress-up parade through the hospital (fuschia feather boa and garish CANADA DAY headband for me), a charades party in the lobby, small talk with strangers, voicemail messages, outings alone with my kiddos (to learn to manage the stress and fear of judgment), and — the most excruciating one — deliberate mistakes at the checkout in the form of “accidentally” handing over the wrong card (e.g. Shoppers Optimum instead of Air Miles)." . Read the rest on my blog! Link in bio. 😘😘😘 . . . #socialanxietydisorder #anxiousmama #anxietyrecovery #groupcbt #progressoverperfection #strongmama
