I’m Not an Expert (Hello New Readers! + Mini Update)

⁣Hello there, new readers (and oldie-but-goodies)!

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣I’m Sadie.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣I’ve had a bit of growth on my blog and Instagram account recently, so I wanted to take a quick moment of your precious time to re-state that 𝘐’𝘮 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

Just as a sort of disclaimer for my own peace of mind.

General update for readers old and new

I’m going to experiment with my posting schedule and post styles for the next couple of weeks. Jesse has been super helpful as a sounding board on all this. ❤

I need something to help with my blogger’s block and blogging perfectionism that I’m struggling with since I decided to make my Monday posts “BIG DEAL POLISHED PIECES.” (Maybe I’ll do an actual post on THAT, too.)

Just as a heads-up if you start seeing me more often and/or more informally. I hope you’ll bear with me!

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣My account has always been about sharing 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐱𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣I share my reflections on what I have learned (and am still learning) from therapy and beyond, but it always comes from a 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣There are some fabulous therapists and coaches out there. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣I’m neither of those things.

(𝘐 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯, 𝘐 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘢𝘣𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵.)⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣I want to share my own 𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 so that, hopefully, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞 if you’re going through similar things or know someone who is. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣I’d love to have you follow along so we can learn from each other :)⁣⁣

Now I’d love to hear from you!

What do you like to share on your own blog?

  1. There are so many different ways that people can experience mental illness, so I think that for every person who shares their experiences, it makes it more likely that people who are looking will be able to find something that speaks to them.

  2. We write blog posts to (1) explore ideas (ie try them on; does it feel authentic when we write x?). (2) feel supported. Comments make up the majority of our extra-family interactions. (3) Be witnessed. Living is hard. (4) practice skills, like loving-kindness.

Si on doit ecriver en français ou en anglais, Sadie est la premiere et la meilleur personne pour le faire.

Is any of that grammatically correct? Lol 🇨🇦

    1. Wow. That list basically perfectly captures a lot of the reasons I write.

I also have a really strong desire to be helpful and useful, and it may be that very desire that trips me up sometimes. Maybe I’m using a lot of energy balancing my various motivations.

But I guess lots of bloggers must feel some of that too.

And your French was lovely 🥰 especially the content. I think “écrire” but I don’t mean to correct unnecessarily!

  3. I’m glad your blog is growing. I like it a lot.

I’ve had different blogs where I’ve shared different stuff (Jewish stuff, Doctor Who fan stuff, etc.). My current blog is very much just my lived experience of trying to engage with life (job hunting, trying to write professionally and trying to be part of a religious community) while suffering from depression, social anxiety and probably high functioning autism. I feel a bit inadequate sometimes that I’m not one of those bloggers who can write “Five Tricks to Avoid Social Anxiety!”-type posts, but that’s not who I am. I just write to off-load my thoughts which build up every day; a few people seem to like to read it and that’s fine with me.

    1. Thank you so much for the support 🙂 I just subscribed to your blog VERY BELATEDLY. I meant to a while back.

The lived experience blog seems to be very common. I think that’s how I started out, especially the first time around back in 2018.

But then I started to worry that my blog didn’t look “polished” enough, so I started doing more manicured posts as well.

I think I’m still just finding my feet and figuring out my writing preferences. It’s really nice to have a few regular commenters like you who chip in when I’m looking for feedback. 🙂
